The girls School Christmas Program

Last night was the girls school program. Alexis & Kylie both got to be on stage together as the 1st and 2nd grades sang together. They did an amazing job. I couldn't help but smile proudly as I watched them sing their little hearts out. They had huge smiles on their faces the entire program. They were so excited and they loved every minute of it. My camera is not the best and unfortunately the pictures of the girls on stage are a little fuzzy, but if you look closely at the 2nd picture you can find them. Kylie is on the far left standing in the second row to the bottom. Alexis is middle of the picture, standing on the second to the top row. She is blurry, but she is the only one in red so hopefully you can pick her out. Colleen and Tracee came to see the girls sing and Joe ended up sitting in the front row with the Principal and had a great seat to video tape the program.

Thanksgiving Part 2

This year we got to celebrate Thanksgiving twice when Grandpa and Grandma Howell came up from IL. I made my first turkey (who knew it was so easy?) and my sisters Erin delicious recipe for Cornbread Stuffing. Dave & Lisa brought up all the family favorites like spinach bars and kugala. Grandma also got the girls some beautiful new Christmas dresses, snowpants, and boots. Uncle Jason was also able to make it to our house, but he didn't end up in any of the pictures. The girls made special place mats for everyone which we laminated so they would not get ruined. We had so much to be thankful for this year and we were lucky to have had 2 really great Thanksgivings!

Fun in the snow with Grandpa

Today my Dad picked up the girls and Erick and took them sledding. They had a lot of fun sledding with Grandpa. When they came back they stopped for a picture and they started throwing snow balls at Grandpa. My dad is wearing his snow suit that is about 40 years old! He wore it when he was a young man and then all during our childhood and it is still in use. Hopefully he will get the toboggan fixed and we can take the kids sledding with that this winter. I remember him taking us when we were young and we had so much fun.My dad was always great fun in the winter when we were kids. He always took us sledding, made huge snow forts with us, and played with us outside and now he takes his grand kids. Thanks Dad!

Thanksgiving 2008 at my parents

Thanks to my lovely sister Erin, I finally have some pictures from Thanksgiving at my parents house. It was probably the nicest Thanksgiving we've had so far. Erin made most of the food and it was delicious. My neighbors Erick and Alex came with us (I need to get some more pics with the rest of everyone who was there) and celebrated their first Thanksgiving. They are from Mexico, where that is not a holiday for them. We had a great time and have so much to be thankful for! Hopefully I will have some more pics to put up soon, like everyone playing Rock Band together!

Halloween 2008

This year Alexis was a Spanish Dancer and Kylie was a Fairy Butterfly. We started our night out by visiting my Grandma Boone in the nursing home. We brought with our neighbors, Erick and Alex. Erick is in 1st grade with Kylie and Alex is 3yrs old. We then went trick or treating in our neighbor hood with the boys and their mom. It was beautiful weather, very warm for October and the kids had a really great time. After they tired of walking we dropped off Dad at home and went to my parents house. The kids ran around crazy for a few minuets, stopping only for a few quick pictures. We then headed out again to hit up a few homes around my parents house. The picture of Alexis outside is from a house near my parents who go all out every year decorating their yard with a walk through cemetery. Alex was terrified but the other kids thought it was a lot of fun. We went home and the kids dumped out their candy and started making trades with each other.

Fall Parties

Today the girls had their fall parties! The kids each had a party in their classroom followed by a costume parade at school. I was one of the moms helping in Alexis' classroom this year and Joe got to come too! This year Alexis is a Senorita and Kylie is a fairy butterfly. We can't wait to go trick or treating tomorrow!

Trick or Trot

Kylie (2nd from the left) 1st Grade Alexis # 1787 2nd Grade
October 21, 2008
This past Tuesday the girls ran in the annual Trick or Trot for the area schools. Everyone met at the Jr High school track where the girls ran with their classes. The track is a quarter mile and they ran around it twice. The winner received a turkey and I think second place was apple cider.
Kylie's class went first and let's just say Kylie did not come in last. She did however walk to the finish line waving to some people in the stands while she held hands with a friend.
Alexis beat out a few more class mates than her sister and had a good time running. They both had a lot of fun and we were all thankful that it was much warmer this year!
